Frequently asked Questions

HOW IS PERMANENT MAKE-UP BY EYEDOLL DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PMU?

EyeDoll offers a unique bespoke service with free consultation and as many of these as you require before you feel comfortable to proceed to treatment. Lynet works in a no pressure environment and if she feels the treatment may not benefit you or you have had too many treatments, Lynet may refuse treatments for your own interests and benefits.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MICROBLADING AND SHADING

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup which is used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. Using a special handheld tool and a configuration of ultra-thin needles, natural pigment is deposited into the upper dermal layer of the skin, making it semi-permanent for 1-3 years. This depends on your skin type and lifestyle, which in turn, can affect the longevity of your results. This technique is used to create precise and thin hair-like strokes which resemble natural eyebrow hairs. The aim of this technique is to create a more defined brow, filling in any gaps you may have, whilst still maintaining a natural look.

There are two types of Shading; Micro Shading and Full Shading. Micro Shading is also a form semi-permanent makeup. Shading is done using a digital machine that deposits small dots of colour under the skin to mimic hair density. Where Microblading aims to mimic natural hairs, Micro Shading is used to create a soft powdered effect which resembles eyebrow pencil or powder and will result in a fuller and more defined look. A combi-brow is the combination of these two : blading and shading, techniques. It is what I recommend for most of my clients because it adds intensity and boldness to the brows giving a very realistic, 3D effect.

For clients looking for a more dense, bold look the Full shading (Instagram brow, powder ombre) is done using the digital machine. Shading is better suited for those who have oily skin or those who like the ‘full brow-makeup look’

Due to the many different variations of semi-permanent make-up, I advise the clients to come with a photo of what they would like done and we can then discuss how to achieve the desired look.

I AM NOT 18 YEARS OLD. CAN I STILL GET PERMANENT MAKEUP?

No. A minimum age of 18 years applies for permanent make-up by EyeDoll. Identification with a valid passport or ID is mandatory before any procedure due to the safety requirements of the Inspectorate for Healthcare and Youth in Establishment (IGJ).

I AM SICK AND TAKING MEDICATIONS, CAN I STILL HAVE PERMANENT MAKEUP (PMU)?

Permanent make-up is NOT recommended if you have the following; diabetes, haemophilia, chronic skin disease, allergy to pigments or other materials used to make PMU, immune disorder or cardiovascular abnormalities.

Do you have any of these conditions or do you use anticoagulants or antibiotics? And do you want PMU? Then first discuss the options with a doctor. We will then request a written authorisation from your doctor before we can offer you any permanent make-up treatments.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

MicroBlading /Shading is done in two sessions.  The first session is 2-3 hours. In the first session, we go through the Informed Consent, the brows are shaped according to the Golden Ratio, also known as Divine Proportions of 1.618 and styled to the client’s preference, and then the pigment is applied. 6 to 12 weeks later, the client returns for the second session for Perfection touch up. This takes approximately 2 hours or less.  It is important to take plenty of time for treatment. It may of course take more time to achieve a good end result so please bear this in mind.

IS MICROBLADING/SHADING PAINFUL?

The level of discomfort is relatively minor. Most people compare it to tweezing 2-3 hairs at the same time but every person responds differently. If you have had a tattoo before, then it’s the same level of pain.  The technique Lynet uses of a 3 point stretch dramatically decreases the pain. The treatment is especially painful for women when they’re about to get, or are on their period due to heightened skin sensitivity, so it’s best to work around those dates.

If you have low pain tolerance, it is advisable to visit your Family Doctor and request Lidocaine topical anaesthetic to be prescribed for you. We can then apply this to your eyebrows before the procedure to numb the area. You can also take Paracetamol (the recommended dose) an hour before the procedure. Please do not use any other painkillers.

Minimal redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure. Your eyebrows will feel slightly sunburned but this does not last long.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

Generally, Microblading lasts 9 to 18 months, depending on skin type such as normal, combination, and oily; along with age, young or mature. It also depends on your skincare routine including the application of sunscreen. It is not permanent like a tattoo, because the pigments are not implanted deep into the skin. To maintain the brows, touch ups may be done every 6 to 12 months.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY TO DO A TOUCH-UP?

Touch-up is necessary because everyone heals differently and therefore healing outcomes vary depending on many factors including skin type, metabolic processes, medications, and the client’s thoroughness of After-Care. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the colour and brow thickness by adding more strokes. In the touch up session, the perfection adjustments are made to assure the client’s satisfaction.

CAN THE TOUCH UP BE DONE IN LESS THAN FOUR WEEKS?

No. Skin cells regenerate in 21-30 days. Healing of your brows needs to be completed before final results are seen. Final adjustments can only be done after the initial work has stabilised.

I HAVE HAD AN EYEBROW TATTOO FROM SOMEONE ELSE, CAN I COME TO EYEDOLL FOR A TOUCH UP?

If you have an old permanent make-up on you eyebrows and would like a touch up at EyeDoll, first send clear photos of your eyebrows so that it can be determined whether we can achieve a good result with a touch up. If necessary we can refer you to a Master Phi-artist for a consultation.

WHEN CAN I MAKE MY 6 WEEKS TOUCH-UP APPOINTMENT?

The Touch-up treatment has to be done after 6 weeks of treatment and must be scheduled immediately due to the overcrowded agenda.

WILL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS BE PROVIDED?

We will provide you with verbal instructions after treatments and also give you further written confirmation of these to read over at home - you may be so excited by the results you won’t take this information in at the time! However, you must remember to follow the instructions as well as you can for the best results. Click here for Pre-Care and After-Care instructions.

WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE THE RESULT?

Carefully choose your practitioner! Microblading is a long-term relationship. Just like everyone has a specific hairdresser or nail artist, choose someone you can trust and have a professional relationship with. Compare the work of various artists before choosing. Discuss your expectations and desired outcome, including the shape, style, and colour you wish with the artist. Realise that faces  and eyebrows are never perfectly symmetrical. Adjustments may be made during touch up, such as pigment coloration and colour correction. Remember, Microbladed/Shaded brows will eventually fade away if touch ups are not done yearly, so you want your microblading artist to be someone that can help you achieve perfect eyebrows year after year.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RISKS AND COMPLICATIONS WITH MICROBLADING?

Proper procedures and precautions are used to ensure a safe microblading procedure. Sterilised, disposable tools are used in a sanitised environment. When Pre and Post care instructions are followed, the risk of complications are minimal. Allergic reactions to pigments are very rare, but sometimes occur. For this reason, a pigment patch test can be performed if needed.

IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED FOR TREATMENTS?

Initial consultations are free, as are reviews post treatment. If a treatment is booked a non-refundable deposit of €75 is required when you book your appointment. This must be confirmed on the EyeDoll account no later than 7 days. This is to prevent a client from not showing up to an existing appointment. The remaining amount may be paid after the first treatment.

WHICH PAYMENT METHODS DOES EYEDOLL ACCEPT?

We accepts both cash and debit or credit card as forms of payment

CAN I CANCEL MY APPOINTMENTS?

You always have the option to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This must be done at least 48 hours in advance via WhatsApp. In case of absence without cancellation by telephone, the €75 deposit will be charged for the reserved time. This is because we schedule a specific time for each clients appointment. Please try to be on time for your scheduled appointments.
